Ngov, Amanda: Section 35
The concept behind the design of the bridge was to maximize
the amount of load being displaced on the bridge. In addition, the high arch
appeared to be more efficient than a box shaped bridge because of the
reinforced strength of the height and pull of the reaction end points.
Carbon Steel was used as opposed to the other materials
because it was the most cost effective and had enough strength for the intended
goal. In forty-three members were used and the number of cross section was
forty-three. The total cost of the entire bridge project totaled to $353962.48.
The maximum amount of compression force was at 0.93 while the maximum tension
force was at 0.51.
