Comp1: Breslin

Breslin, Bridget: Section 35

In order to best distribute the weight the bridge can hold, I designed  a bridge that resembles the shape of a boat. I had decided to construct a larger amount of the bridge structure on the bottom while adding a smaller amount on the top. The design bridge is made out of carbon steel. I chose to use carbon steel because it was the strongest cheapest material that was available. All sixty three members of the bridge had a bar cross section. The cost of the bridge was priced out to be $433,513.21. The maximum compression force/strength was 0.86. The maximum tension force/strength was 0.51.
